  11. I'm doing some research (trying to) on the new 33.6 kbps modems, the V.34 bis.  I've been online for 
  12. what seems like days and cannot find anything to confirm or deny a rumor I heard.  I've been told that 
  13. the significance of the 33.6 is that no one thought we could get more than 28.8 on our exising 3000 
  14. Hz. analog lines.  Is there any truth to this?  If not what are your opinions on the signifance of the new 
  15. standard?
