- I'm doing some research (trying to) on the new 33.6 kbps modems, the V.34 bis. I've been online for
- what seems like days and cannot find anything to confirm or deny a rumor I heard. I've been told that
- the significance of the 33.6 is that no one thought we could get more than 28.8 on our exising 3000
- Hz. analog lines. Is there any truth to this? If not what are your opinions on the signifance of the new
- standard?
-
- Any help will be greatly appreciated.

- Thanks,
